Steve joined BWT Alpine Formula One Team in 2025 as Managing Director, under the leadership of Executive Advisor, Flavio Briatore.

The appointment marked a return to the Enstone-based team for Steve, where he had previously held the position of Sporting Director. He performed the role during the team’s previous guises of Benetton, Renault, and Lotus to great success as a key part of the team during the 2005 and 2006 World Championship winning seasons.

Steve entered the Formula One world with Team Lotus and worked his way up through various teams moving to Tyrrell where he became Team Manager. He later moved to Honda and Arrows before joining Benetton. He stayed with the team as it transitioned to Renault and later Lotus.

Steve worked in Sporting positions across the paddock through the 2010s working for Caterham, Toro Rosso, and Williams before joining Formula One as the championship’s Sporting Director in 2017. Steve was a key member of the Formula One organisation and was influential in helping organise the 2020 season during the Covid-19 pandemic. Formula One was the first international sport to return to competition and much of that can be credited to Steve.

Following a stint at the FIA, Steve returned to Formula One as Chief Motorsports Operations Officer before joining BWT Alpine Formula One Team in September 2025. Steve oversees the day-to-day running of the team at Enstone.
