Behind The Design: Hungarian GP

It's not just the Hungarian GP for us, it's also the anniversary of our defining race as BWT Alpine Formula One Team. Etched into the history books, Esteban Ocon took the chequered flag in 2021's Hungarian GP for Alpine's first victory, and this week's race poster is a tribute to that wonderful weekend.

This week, we spoke to Graphic Designer, Lucas Ulitschnik, on the creative process of this weeks race poster as we go Behind The Design.

What was the initial spark or idea behind this poster?

Hungary is a special track for us, as it is where Alpine got their first win back in 2021. So it brings back great memories for the team. I saw the trophy in our reception and was inspired by the floral pattern that's hand painted on to it, and so from there I got to working on a pattern that reflected that of the beautiful design on the trophy.

Can you walk us through your design process from concept to final piece?

After I had my concept/idea in mind, and I created the pattern. I created a material in Cinema4d/Redshift and applied it to the plane the A525 sits on. I wanted to execute a serene environment that highlights the car and pattern together.

So I focused on lighting the scene in a way that achieves this. There was a lot of trial and error until I was happy with the result. Finally, I did some touch ups in Photoshop to get the balance right.
