In most partnerships between watch brands and car manufacturers, the same scenario tends to play out: swapped logos, a splash of colour, exotic materials, and that’s where it usually ends. But when H. Moser & Cie. teamed up with BWT Alpine Formula One Team in 2024, it was never going to be just a marketing ploy. The idea was to rewrite the rules and focus on a rigorous, authentic and committed approach: one of true collaboration.

The two brands, renowned for their pioneering spirit in their respective fields, have set their sights much higher: a genuine, in-depth collaboration based on engineering considerations and not just marketing factors. At its heart, lies a single provocative question:

How can a two-hundred-year-old Swiss watchmaker support the Alpine Formula 1 and Endurance teams in their quest for precision and performance?

The answer offered by H. Moser & Cie. comes in two parts, with a duo of watches: the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition and the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition. An unprecedented blend of Haute Horlogerie and state of the art technology.

Two watches. Two worlds. The same avant-garde spirit. To coincide with the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, H. Moser & Cie. is unveiling two creations developed in close collaboration with Alpine Motorsports: the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition, a mechanical chronograph powered by a skeleton version of the AgenGraphe movement, and the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition, the first watch specifically designed to meet the needs of a Formula 1 team. One is at the heart of watchmaking tradition, while the other is a digital showcase, integrating cutting-edge connected technology. Designed for action, developed alongside drivers and engineers, these watches embody a shared vision: a partnership that goes far beyond a logo.

STREAMLINER ALPINE DRIVERS EDITION

Born of the desire of Alpine drivers to sport a watch as stylish as their single-seaters, the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition takes the collaboration between H. Moser & Cie. and Alpine Motorsports to the very limits of a mechanical piece. It features the high-flying movement developed by H. Moser & Cie.’s partner AGENHOR, for the first time in a skeleton version. Aesthetically, it is the result of direct dialogue with the drivers themselves: an open dial that reveals the gears, like a transparent body revealing the car’s engineering, and powerful blue and white colour codes chosen to both evoke speed and echo Alpine’s signature identity.

The skeletonisation of this model takes its inspiration from the racetrack. Two of the bridges visible through the dial are V-shaped, in a nod to the triangulated suspensions of single-seaters. The movement’s central bridge is shaped like a driver’s helmet, a tribute to all those who take to the track. Positioned on the dial side, the skeleton rotor echoes the dynamic lines of an Alpine A110 wheel rim, underlining the organic link between engine and movement with each rotation.

With its emphasis on minimalism and legibility, this chronograph features a central minute and seconds display, with no subdials. It is equipped with the Flyback function, which enables the chronograph to be restarted instantaneously, because in Formula 1, as in watchmaking, every second is a precious goal to be conquered.

The HMC 700 skeleton calibre is finished in a contemporary anthracite. The Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition is a driver’s watch, designed for action and made for those who live life to the fullest – both on and off the track.

STREAMLINER ALPINE MECHANICS EDITION

In Formula 1, performance isn’t just about the turns. It is about what happens behind the scenes, in every gesture, every exchange, every last-minute improvement, every thousandth of a second. Drivers, engineers, mechanics: racing is a collective effort, choreographed with the highest precision. The Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition has been designed for them – the men and women behind the scenes – as a real work tool, designed to streamline communication, speed up processes and save those precious fractions of a second that make all the difference.

This is a world first: a watch designed not for window displays or grandstands, but for performance in the real world. Developed on a specific technological platform in close collaboration with the Alpine teams, it is the natural extension of the team’s procedures: clear messages, instantly accessible key information, perfect synchronisation. In a sport where cars evolve from one weekend to the next, where every bolt can be streamlined to gain a few thousandths, no watch can be designed to simply sit on the sidelines. “With this project, we wanted to create a measuring instrument that meets the demands of a Formula 1 team, a device designed to accompany their missions and further improve their race against the clock, their quest for every precious second”, explains Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. This unique model combines a digital soul with an analogue heart. On the one hand, a mysterious black screen that remains perfectly silent on standby, only to burst into life with information when activated: GMT with country selector, split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar and F1 mode, with countdown to the start and notifications of the key moments for the Formula 1 season’s races. Everything is there, at your fingertips, designed for those who don’t have the luxury of wasting a second. But it also has a more classic side, with the time and date displayed on a small domed Funky Blue fumé dial with the H. Moser & Cie. logo in transparent lacquer: proving that precision and style can coexist. Compatible with Android® and iOS®, the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition works autonomously and syncs via Bluetooth on demand. Its power reserve is calibrated to last: one year in time-only mode, six Grand Prix in connected mode. Solid and reliable, it is designed to last, unlike the disposable standards of connected electronics.
