The Circuit of The Americas (COTA} in Austin, Texas has been the permanent home for the sport in the US since 2012 and the annual trip to the vibrant city is a popular one for teams and fans. The technical and demanding track was inspired by world-class circuits from the Formula One calendar with the esses in Sector 1 a nod to Silverstone’s Maggotts and Becketts and the long Turn 16/17/18-complex drawing inspiration from Turn 8 at Istanbul Park. The Austin weekend hosts the fourth Sprint of the season meaning the team will need to hit the ground running with one practice session before Sprint Qualifying on Friday afternoon.
Throughout the US Grand Prix weekend, BWT Alpine Formula One Team will be proudly supporting Helen’s Pink Sky Foundation. The team will feature the logo of the charity on the A525 for the entire weekend to raise awareness of Late Infantile Batten Disease, alongside Arctic Wolf. The rare genetic disorder causes rapid neurodegeneration, seizures, vision loss, and premature death for two to four in every 100,000 children in the United States. Founded in April of this year, Helen’s Pink Sky Foundation is inspired by four-year-old Helen Born and is dedicated to funding groundbreaking research and supporting families impacted by this devastating condition. The foundation has dedicated nearly $1M to research since April and featuring during the US Grand Prix is a major milestone in raising awareness of the disease.
Right now, it is clear that we are nowhere near where we intend to be in terms of competitiveness. I do believe, though, we have better days coming especially as we look ahead to the remaining six races and some better suited tracks to our car and, of course, to 2026. One positive from Singapore was making some changes to the car to try and understand and gather data on our current performance level. We found some anomalies in the data which have proved to be valuable and I know we will go to Austin this weekend aiming for an improvement on my side of the garage. I had a very busy week after Singapore. I was at Enstone on Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare Austin and the coming races on the simulator before a day in Paris with BWT, meeting some of the players at Stade Français rugby club, which I always take a lot from, hearing of experiences from other sports. Then I was at the new Alpine Atelier in Paris alongside Philippe Krief and François Provost for its official opening. I am feeling good with my attention fully turned to the Sprint weekend at COTA, a demanding circuit which we hope will be more favourable to our package.
We have not had the easiest of times over past few races, but we are keeping our heads down as a team and staying focused on learning as much as we can each time we are on track. I am confident that there are races coming up which should better suit us and we will be doing everything we can to be in contention and really try to secure some points finishes between now and the end of the year. Singapore was not without its positives, we made a good start off the line and I was able to join a few battles along the way but, in the end, we did not have enough pace to challenge for the top ten. I spent some time at Enstone last week to debrief from the weekend and prepare for the upcoming stint in The Americas, starting with Austin. The Circuit of The Americas is an incredible track to drive and with the event being a Sprint weekend it will be great to have two opportunities to race around the circuit. The fans in America are also always great to interact with and there is always a good following of Argentinians in the crowd which I love to see. We will be working hard right from the word go to put on a show and, hopefully, we can take a nice reward from it.Sign Up For Race Week Updates
