Although Formula One first raced in Las Vegas in the early 1980s, it was a short-lived experiment, with the race taking place in the car park of a hotel. The reimagined Las Vegas Grand Prix is a completely different spectacle, with cars now hurtling down the iconic Strip under the glow of neon lights. Since its return to the calendar in 2023, the event has rapidly become one of the most spectacular street races in the world. If you’re in town supporting BWT Alpine Formula One Team this week, here are our top five must-see attractions.

Perhaps the most mesmerising sight in Las Vegas is the Bellagio Fountains - an unmissable display of water, light and music. More than 1,000 fountains dance across an eight-acre lake, sending jets of water soaring up to 460 feet into the air. The performances take place every 30 minutes during the day and every 15 minutes in the evening, perfectly choreographed to music. While you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, a stunning indoor oasis filled with elaborate floral displays.

While Las Vegas Boulevard - better known as the Strip - doubles as part of the modern Grand Prix circuit during the night, you can still explore its many landmarks. Make your way between the world-famous casinos, luxury hotels and spectacular entertainment venues. Whether you’re tempted by the slot machines or roulette tables, there’s something for everyone. Head to The Venetian Resort which offers a unique blend of elegance and excitement. There you’ll find an F1 merchandise store with exclusive collaborations, in addition to a BWT Alpine Formula One Team show car located at Grand Colonnade, for a chance to get up close to a genuine F1 car.

If you were impressed by the glittering skyline as you touched down at Harry Reid International Airport, then the High Roller offers an alternative view. Standing at 550 feet, it’s the tallest Ferris Wheel in North America, featuring 28 air-conditioned glass pods that can hold nearly 40 passengers. A full rotation takes around 30 minutes, giving you 360-degree views of the city and surrounding desert. As the lights of the Strip flicker into life at sunset, there’s no better place to take in the full scale of the Las Vegas spectacle.

If you need to take a break from the neon lights, take a trip to Red Rock Canyon, which is less than an hour’s drive from the city. This stunning conservation area offers a 13-mile scenic loop through dramatic red sandstone peaks and ancient desert landscapes. There are numerous viewpoints, hiking trails and picnic spots along the route, as well as a visitor centre to learn about the geology, wildlife and history of the Mojave Desert.

An icon of American engineering, the Hoover Dam is a must-see - but only if you aren’t afraid of heights! Built in the 1930s, it remains one of the largest concrete structures in the world, an immense curved wall holding back the waters of Lake Mead and controlling the flow of the Colorado River. Standing on its walkway, 725 feet above the river, you’ll get a true sense of the scale of this remarkable structure.
