Here, precision components are produced through a unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. From bodywork parts to specialised metallic items, it’s a place where skill, care and experience come together - and where James Corrigan has been leaving his mark for more than two decades.
James joined Enstone in September 2001 and has been part of the team through major periods of growth and transformation. From World Championship-winning seasons to times of transition, his career has evolved alongside the team, from starting out as a CNC turner to a management role as Interim Metallics Production Manager.
“I was working for a medical research company, creating prototypes through powder injection moulding, when I saw a job at Enstone for a turner in the Machine Shop,” James recalls. “So I thought, ‘why not go for it?’ I got the job and it’s been my life ever since.”
Initially working on the CNC machines, James quickly rose through the ranks - first as Turning Supervisor, then Machine Shop Supervisor, then Team Leader - before stepping into his current management position. Today, he oversees the entire workflow on the shop floor: receiving drawings from the Design Office, planning their journey through the machines, programming, schedule and ensuring every part is delivered and inspected on time.
For James, management is about more than just processes - it’s about people. “Key to my role is understanding the needs of the business and filtering that through to my team,” he explains. “We’re event-driven and working in Research & Development (R&D), so what we need to deliver is constantly changing. The Machine Shop is full of different personalities, but there’s a lot of trust and respect here. Our newest team member has already been with us four years - that kind of stability is rare.”
Over the years, James has seen the business from every angle. From the focused intensity of machine work to the broader view of team leadership, each step has shaped his understanding of how every person at BWT Alpine Formula One Team contributes to the bigger picture.
“I’ve grown up at Enstone. I’ve carved out a career here, made lifelong friendships, and experienced the highs and lows - including winning our back-to-back World Championships in 2005 and 2006.”
But even in challenging times, James finds motivation in those memories, proof of what belief and unity can achieve. “Words matter. Praise and appreciation matter,” he says. “Everyone needs to know they can make a difference.”
Staying motivated - and helping his team stay motivated - can be tough when results on track aren’t going our way. The pressure to deliver flawless parts, on time and every time, never lets up. But James remains optimistic and proud of what his team achieves together. He’s confident that success will come again and reminds everyone to be proud of playing their part in such an elite team.
